Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has opened up about Tina’s (Michelle Keegan) surrogacy storyline, hinting that it may not be long before Tommy becomes a parent himself.
The actor said that Tina’s decision to have a baby for Izzy (Cherylee Houston) will cause further issues among the already-troubled couple, but he hopes they will stay together and start a family of their own.
Asked by Digital Spy at the TV Choice Awards if he believes Tommy and Tina will end up settling down, Fountain replied: “I’d like to think so. Tommy and Tina has been a very slow, gradual thing. It’s been great how they’ve developed it.
“It’s quite difficult for Tommy. If your girlfriend or your wife is going to have a baby for someone else, I think that’s always going to be an issue and quite a sensitive subject.”
He continued: “I think Tommy would like to become a parent, he’s said that to Tina already, but it’s just a case of whether she’s ready or she’s going to do this surrogacy thing. It’s a big thing at the moment so I’m not too sure how that’s going to go.”
Keegan recently suggested that Tina may choose becoming a surrogate over being with Tommy.
