As fans of Coronation Street will know, Tina McIntyre is due to become a surrogate mother for Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstong (Cherylee Houston) which Tina’s boyfriend Tommy is still very unhappy about…
And in upcoming episodes, there’s set to be a twist to the story when, on the day that Tina should have eggs implanted, Tommy (Chris Fountain) ‘kidnaps’ her, driving her miles away from the hospital in a bid to stop her from going through with it.
However, Michelle Keegan, who of course plays Tina, has told ITV that the plotline is due to run for several months yet.
She explained, “This storyline has many months to run and it is going to be so interesting to play…
“I am thrilled to be given a storyline that will be a real talking point. It is an important issue which hasn’t really been tackled before. I want to do it justice.
“It will be interesting to see if Tommy sticks around.”
She added, “I love working with Chris [Fountain] so I hope he does.
“And it is nice to be working with different people like Mikey [North] and Cherylee [Houston].”
As to Tina’s attitude to the pregnancy now, Michelle said, “I think she is being a bit stubborn and bloody minded…
“It is an amazing selfless thing to do but it seems she just thinks it is nine months and it will be over.
“Having not had a baby herself she has no idea how she will feel once she is pregnant.
