The actress plays army medic Georgie Lane on the war-based series, and t’s been quit the series for the character.
Taking to Instagram following the tense final episode of series two, Michelle confessed filming had been one of the “most incredible experiences of her life”. Praising her “amazing” cast, Michelle admitted she felt “emotional” as she confirmed that the show would be back and so would she.
She wrote alongside a snap of her in uniform: “Well that’s an official wrap. One of the most incredible experiences of my life. Thank you so much for your amazing support I feel so emotional right now. Thank you also to the amazing people who I was lucky enough to work with on this special project. #OurGirl2016 @bbcone.” The actress posted a series of snaps in the lead up to the final of her time away filming in Kenya. At the end of last night’s episode, Corporal Georgie headed off to Syria for her next army tour, and it has now been confirmed that another series is on the way.BBC One confirmed the news on Twitter after the end of last night’s big episode, which saw Georgie in danger once again at the hands of terrorist Abu. The account posted: “We’re delighted to announce tha #OurGirl will return to @BBCOne for a third series, starring @michkeegan as Georgie Lane.” Michelle’s character had spent the whole series choosing between Luke Pasqualino’s character Elvis and Jamie (Royce Pierrson). And the final episode left viewers disappointed, as the army girl chose to marry neither and go it alone. It finished with a voiceover from Michelle saying: “Husbands? They’re overrated. I’ve got something much more important. I have a job to do.”
